It's an Epic Week of Band!

Dear Whalers,

This is going to be an incredible week, with our first Stadium Rehearsal as well as TWO COMPS and a football game.  Nothing but our best will bring us success this week, and I know you are up to it!  We had a bit of a break last week, and now we are charging ahead toward the final third of our season.  This week starts off with a dress rehearsal, then every event gets more intense as we have senior night at the football game on Friday, then a comp in Dartmouth, and finally our Home Comp on our Home Turf here in New Bedford.  We need to raise our level of intensity and performance every day this week so that we can show our Home Crowd the best New Bedford band they've seen in years!

Please note that in order to avoid a conflict with Open House on Thursday, we have rescheduled rehearsal to Wednesday night 5pm-9pm.  This was announced to students last week and they have been frequently reminded of it.  While I apologize for the inconvenience, please know that this rehearsal is necessary to ensure our success in this weekend's performances.

In the midst of all the band excitement, I need to remind everyone that Warning Cards for first quarter are coming out on Wednesday, and then the NBHS Open House will be on Thursday night, October 9, from 6:30-8:00pm.  Parents, please come out and meet your childrens' teachers.

This is an intense week for everyone, not just students.  With the Home Comp approaching, I would like to remind to all families that we are asking every student to provide at least one volunteer to work at the Competition this Sunday.  We are in need of more people, so if anyone has not yet come forward, please contact our Band Boosters' President, Laurie Souza, at

I know there have also been questions about the fundraisers that are running right now, including the Patriots Raffle Tickets and the Cookie Dough.  Please feel free to contact me your questions and I will do my best to get quick answers back out to you.  In the future, we will do a better job of sending instructions home with the students for every fundraiser to avoid confusion.

When this week is over, we can all take a deep breath and sleep late next Monday.  I know we'll need the rest, but if we pull together we can make this one of the best weeks of the year.  So much success in so little time does not come without hard work, but I know we're up to the task, and I know that we can come together to make this one more great week to be a Whaler!

Your weekly sheet is attached at the bottom of this page and has been emailed out to the entire email list.  As always, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Yours in music,
Mr. Eric Drew
