Finish Strong!

Dear Whalers,

We have a long school year left in front of us, but this weekend marks a major milestone for the band this year.  New England Championships is the height of our competitive season, and we need to make sure that our show is the best it can possibly be for that performance.  This week, the staff and I will be doing everything within our power to help set you up for a great performance that day.  Please do the same for yourself, and earn a performance to remember.  Make us proud!

With that in mind, here are some reminders for each event we have this week.

Rehearsal on Tuesday night, 10/28
This will be a normal rehearsal at the NBHS Band Room and our field behind D-Block.  The athletic department will be painting fresh lines tomorrow, and we have arranged for extra lighting to be sure that we can see the lines (a big "thank you" to Mr. Madeira for making that possible!).  Be ready for an intense rehearsal and much improvement toward our performances this weekend.

Rehearsal on Thursday night, 10/30
This will be a stadium rehearsal at McCoy Field.  Please remember that we will meet as close to 4:30 as possible at the Band Room, load the truck, and then walk over to the field together.  Also, please know that this rehearsal will run a little later than usual.  We will rehearse until 9pm and then return to the band rom to be dismissed around 9:30pm.  This will be the only time we rehearse that late during the year.

There will be no football game on Friday 10/31, which is a change from the schedule passed out in August.

Rehearsal and Football Game on 11/1
The MIAA Playoff Committee decided to schedule our team's first Playoff game against Newton North on Saturday at 1:00pm.  As a result, Students will have Friday night off, and then we will rehearse EARLY on Saturday morning before the game.  We will then use the game as a Final Run Through of our field who in preparation for Sunday.  For the schedule of the day, please see the times on the weekly sheet, and remember that STUDENTS MUST BRING THEIR OWN FOOD for lunch to be eaten on the bus ride.

NE Championships on Sunday 11/1
This is the culmination of two hundred hours' work over the course of two and a half months since August.  Let's make this a great performance and end our competitive season with on a high note.  For the schedule of the day, please see the times on the weekly sheet, and remember that STUDENTS MUST BRING THEIR OWN FOOD for lunch to be eaten on the bus ride.

This will be another intense week, but we're very near the finish line.  Beginning on Tuesday, 11/4, rehearsals will be shortened to 5:30pm to 8:30pm and our winter schedule begins.  Focus on our field show while we can and let's bring all of our hard work to fruition in Sunday's performance.  Let's Go Whalers!

Your weekly sheet for this week is available below, and was sent out by email on Monday night.  As always, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Yours in music,
Mr. Eric Drew
