Calling all do-gooders!

Dear Whalers,

For the next month, until October 16th, the New Bedford Public Schools is holding a fundraising drive to raise money for band and orchestra instruments.  (Click here to donate!!) Help us provide an instrument for every student that wants to join the band.

Please know that this fundraiser will mostly benefit the middle and elementary schools, but the students at that level are the future of the NBHS Band.  While you may be already contributing to our band, please spread the word and encourage others to donate to this worthy cause.  We encourage you to share this information over Facebook, twitter, and any other social media to which you have access.  Thanks in advance for your help.

A flyer with more information is attached at the bottom of this page.

As always, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Yours in music,

Mr. Eric Drew

P.S. the following is the original message from our NBPS Director of Fine Arts, Ms. Kerri Quinlan-Zhou, with more details on our project:

***************************************************
New Bedford Public Schools needs your help to make sure that there is a musical instrument for every child who wants to play in school.
The need and interest far surpass the amount of instruments that we can loan. We need:
  • Gently used instruments and/or
  • Funding for new instruments and repairs

You can help our students in the following ways:
  • Bring your gently used instrument to our partner to be assessed, donated and repurposed.
    • Symphony Music Shop at 94 State Rd in N. Dartmouth
  • Donate online at
    • http://igg.me/at/nbpsinstrumentdonation or
    • send a check (payable to NBPS Fine Arts)to:
      • New Bedford Public Schools,
      • ATTN: Kerri Anne Quinlan-Zhou, Dir. Fine Arts,
      • 455 County Street, New Bedford, MA 02740
THANK YOU!
