***The information below is also available in hard copy on the band room door. Because rehearsals are cancelled for this week in deference to the Theater Department's production of West Side Story, some students may be unaware of this information. Please the attached letter with other band members and parents so we can be sure that everyone is informed.***

Dear Whalers,

Most of you know that a considerable amount of time and effort have been spent trying to plan a band trip for this year. While we could not get enough participation to have a larger overnight trip this year, we have settled on arrangements for a day trip to New York City to see Wicked on Broadway.

After many attempts, we have finally been able to secure tickets and have booked the trip for Saturday, June 8th. The cost for this trip is significant, but the experience will be one that students will never forget. Because of limited availability, we have had to book extremely good seats to the show, and those who attend will get the best possible experience. During the day, we will also be visiting Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum and will be having dinner at the Hard Rock Café in Times Square.

The price for this trip will be $300 for band students and $337 for anyone else who would like to join us. There are many factors contributing to the cost of the trip and while I know that it is expensive, I also know that the experience will be more than worthwhile for our students. If any students in the band are unable to attend due to financial circumstances, I hope they will come to me and we can try to work out payment plans or a reduced price with the help of the band boosters.

A deposit of $100 will be due on Friday, April 26 to secure spots on this trip. Another payment of $100 will be due on Friday May 17, and the balance will be due on Friday May 31. Again, please contact me if you have financial concerns as we may be able to assist students in difficult financial situations.

More information about the trip will be coming out after the April vacation, including the requisite field trip permission and food forms. In the mean time, please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

Yours in music,
Mr. Eric Drew
